WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) continued to highlight the need for the Administration to wrap up ongoing trade negotiations and get good deals done for Iowa farmers and manufacturers. In addition, she outlined the importance of removing the current tariffs on Iowa products and called on the House of Representatives to support the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Background:

In Iowa, one out of every five jobs is affected by trade. During Senator Ernst’s 99 County Tour stops over the past two weeks, she heard from farmers and manufacturers across Iowa who are facing challenges due to the retaliatory tariffs. While many commended the president for leading the fight for fair trade deals for farmers, they need to see agreements reached quickly, particularly the USMCA.
