Group of Senators Comment On August Recess Delay

“It is time to get results for the American people”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA), David Perdue (R-GA), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Kennedy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Luther Strange (R-AL), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Thom Tillis (R-NC) comment on Majority Leader McConnell’s decision to cancel the first two weeks of the Senate’s scheduled August state work period:

“We are glad leadership took our concerns into consideration. It is time to get results for the American people.”

On June 30, the Senators sent a letter to Leader McConnell outlining their request to work through the August recess period. They will continue working to make progress on fixing health care, funding the government, dealing with the debt ceiling, passing a budget resolution, and improving our tax code.
