Ernst on Confirmation of Barrett: “This is exactly what a mom can do.”

Barrett is the first mother of school-aged children on the Supreme Court; Ernst called Barrett “a brilliant legal scholar, an extraordinary jurist.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), one of the first female Republicans to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, spoke about Amy Coney Barrett’s qualifications and temperament after voting to confirm her to the United States Supreme Court. Ernst praised newly confirmed Justice Barrett – the first mother of school-aged children on the Court – as a role model for young women across the nation and encouraged them to follow her example.
