Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, WW Homestead Dairy

Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: WW Homestead Dairy of Allamakee County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

“I’m excited to recognize WW Homestead Dairy for their dedication to bringing all-natural, award-winning, and locally-produced dairy products to Allamakee County and all of Northeastern Iowa,” said Ranking Member Ernst. “As two Iowa farm families spanning three generations, the Weighners and Wallesers have built a successful business that benefits their community and showcases the best of Iowa agriculture.”

Dubbed the Cheese Curd Capital of Iowa, WW Homestead Dairy was founded in 2011 by the Weighner and Walleser families who came together to provide their community with natural dairy products. The dairy farms and creamery produce a variety of farm-fresh foods including non-homogenized milk, over 30 flavors of ice cream, butter, small-batch cottage cheese, block cheese and, of course, their famous cheese curds. All these products and more are featured in their retail store. Visitors can also tour a farm and the creamery to see how their delicious products are made as part of the families’ mission to bridge the gap between agriculture and consumers. The team at WW Homestead Dairy also gives back to the Waukon community by hosting public events and coordinating fundraisers to benefit local schools.

Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
