Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, Total Detailing Auto Spa

Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Total Detailing Auto Spa of Scott County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

“As a young Iowan, Tim Lofgren was determined to turn his hobby of detailing cars into a small business. His family’s 25 years of success and more than 30 employees are a testament to their hard work!” said Ranking Member Ernst. “I want to congratulate the entire team at Total Detailing Auto Spa for giving back to the Quad Cities and providing quality services for Iowans.”

As a child, Bettendorf resident Tim Lofgren cleaned cars in his neighborhood as a part-time business. He came up with the name “Total Detailing” at the age of 15 after he determined that his childhood hobby could become a small business. Total Detailing Auto Spa was founded in 1998 and started at a residential home. In 2008, Tim and his wife Susan acquired an 11,200-square-foot facility in Bettendorf, Iowa, which serves as the current location for their business. The team has grown from a two-person shop to more than 30 employees who regularly give back to the Quad Cities community by providing services for charity auctions and school benefits.

Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
