Throughout this Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Mapleton Hometown Variety of Monona County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.

“For nearly four decades, Mapleton Hometown Variety has woven into the fabric of the Mapleton community with quality products, personalized customer service, and a strong commitment to supporting local families,” said Chair Ernst. “From toys to floral arrangements, Carol has consistently led a top-notch team that continues to serve Iowans and define Iowa small businesses.”

Acquired in 1987 by Jerry Koenigs, Mapleton Hometown Variety has become a trusted retail destination for residents in Monona County and the surrounding area. After Jerry passed, his wife Carol has carried on his legacy. The store continues offering a wide variety of products including fabric, toys, gifts, home decor, craft supplies, greeting cards, and floral arrangements for any occasion. The business has built a reputation for quality merchandise, convenience, and a welcoming shopping experience rooted in small-town Iowa values.
