Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, Huffman’s Farm & Home

Throughout this Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Huffman’s Farm & Home of Lee County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

“For over two decades, the Huffman family has exemplified the heart of American small business—offering quality products, outstanding customer service, and an unwavering commitment to their community,” said Chair Ernst. “Huffman’s is the cream of the crop when it comes to serving farmers, families, and folks across the Midwest. Whether it’s a wrench, a toy, or a bag of Iowa’s finest popcorn, this business truly is a one-stop shop for quality tools and products.”

In 2002, Bob Huffman and his brothers, Mike and Hank, founded Huffman’s Farm & Home after their experience working at their father’s welding shop, Huffman’s Welding & Machine, which is still running after more than 50 years. The brothers recognized the opportunity to expand into the retail industry when clients would not only pick up their welding products but also purchase tools. Huffman’s Farm & Home offers an extensive selection of tools and products ranging from mowers and toys to feeders and electrical parts. Over the years, the business has steadily expanded, growing from a 10,000-square-foot store to a now more than 30,000-square-foot operation. The Huffmans opened two additional locations in West Burlington, Iowa and Aledo, Illinois. Bob’s nephew, Jason Huffman, joined the company and now serves as vice president, managing many aspects of the manufacturing division, as well as project management and assessment. Later this year, Huffman’s Farm & Home will celebrate its 23rd anniversary.

Stay tuned as Chair Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
