Ernst Highlights Role of National Guard and Iowa in Our Nation’s Defense

Promotes work of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and Rock Island Arsenal

WASHINGTON – During a Senate Committee on Armed Services hearing, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who served in the Iowa National Guard, emphasized the critical role the National Guard and Reserve play in strengthening and safeguarding our homeland.

She also highlighted the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and Rock Island Arsenal as key facilities for advancing munition production and modernizing defense efforts to support our warfighters and allies.

“We have facilities in Iowa, like the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, which will be an important part of delivering munitions for our military. Also, the Rock Island Arsenal…situated in the Mississippi River, dividing Iowa and Illinois, making sure that we're able to expand production and supporting those facilities will be very important in the future,” said Ernst.
