Ernst Shares Personal Connection to Ukraine, Calls for Action to Support Ukrainian People, Unleash American Energy Sector

The Iowa senator slammed Senate Democrats for instead focusing on legislation to legalize abortion on demand in all 50 states and postal reform.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today shared her experience from an agriculture exchange in Ukraine in 1989, then part of the Soviet Union, and how the sentiment of the Ukrainian people back then remains the same today—they want freedom.

Ernst slammed Senate Democrats for instead focusing on legislation to legalize abortion on demand in all 50 states and postal reform, and called on the Senate to take swift, immediate action to further sanction Russia and Putin, including the energy sector, to provide additional lethal aid to the Ukrainian military, and to unleash American energy and promote energy independence.
