WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a combat veteran, joined her colleagues in introducing bipartisan legislation to protect servicemembers and their families from exposure to mold and other hazards in privatized military housing.
The bipartisan Military Occupancy Living Defense (MOLD) Act strengthens protections for military families by establishing mold and safety standards and requires inspections, reporting, and accountability to ensure servicemembers are living in healthy conditions.

“Our servicemembers and their families make countless sacrifices to serve our nation and keep us safe. Healthy living conditions shouldn’t be one of those sacrifices,” said Ernst. “Through the MOLD Act, we are taking action and protecting our servicemembers from mold exposure and other hazards, so that their families can have a safe and healthy home.”
