Ernst Statement on Disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi

WASHINGTON – Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) issued the following statement with regard to the disappearance of Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi.

“Saudi Arabia’s alleged involvement in the disappearance of Mr. Khashoggi is deeply concerning.  The United States must get to the bottom of this and take appropriate action upon completion of the investigation.  A free press and the freedom of speech are at the bedrock of our democracy, and we must hold all nations—especially our allies—to a high standard.  I look forward to working with our Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense and the State Department to ensure Congress is fully informed and updated throughout this process.”
